Climate Pledge Arena

SPS Technology

Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle is the world’s first net-zero carbon arena. Innovate Stadia – alongside SPS Technology – played a significant role in the arena’s innovative design and construction.

  • The roof of the Seattle Centre Coliseum, originally built for the 1962 World’s Fair, was preserved by Oak View Group (OVG) to minimise embodied carbon and landfill waste.
  • The arena can accommodate up to 18,100 fans and hosts the Seattle Kraken and Seattle Storm, along with other sports and concerts.
  • 170 Sandwich Plate System structural composite panels created a 273 ft (83 m) bridge spanning the roof.
  • A total of 710 m² (7,646 ft²) of SPS was used, including four staircases.
